Easily capture your screen or regions of your screen with a number of useful editing tools including arrows, highlights and annotations.

Flameshot is a free and open source screen capture app and screen capture tool developed by The flameshot org for Windows. It's light on system resources, efficient, well-designed, reliable and straightforward.

The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of Flameshot to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this screen capture program.

Screenshot creation and editor tool with keyboard shortcuts

With the free Flameshot software, you can better customize your screen recording and expand it with many useful functions. To start the software, press the "PRINT" button as usual and you can already select the area that you want to save as a recording.

A systray icon will be in your system's panel while Flameshot is running. Do a right click on the tray icon and you'll see some menu items to open the configuration window and the information window. Check out the About window to see all available shortcuts in the graphical capture mode.

You can use the graphical menu to configure Flameshot, but alternatively you can use your terminal or scripts to do so.

What version of Windows can Flameshot run on?

Flameshot can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.
